Comparison of therapeutic effects of magnesium sulfate vs. dexamethasone/metoclopramide on alleviating acute migraine headache.
We aimed to evaluate and compare the effects of magnesium sulfate and combined use of dexamethasone/metoclopramide on relieving acute migraine headache.
We randomly divided 70 patients who had been referred to an emergency department, into two equal treatment groups with the two treatment plans, and analyzed pain severity at baseline using a numeric rating scale (NRS). We gave dexamethasone/metoclopramide to one group and magnesium sulfate to the other group, and evaluated pain severity at 20 min and at 1- and 2-h intervals after infusion. Finally, we used repeated-measure and two-way analysis of variance for intra- and inter-group evaluations of pain severity and complications, respectively.

Benefits of THAT Magnesium™ HEADACHES | MIGRAINES (Oral Liquid)
THAT Magnesium™ Headaches | Migraines contains organic magnesium and trace minerals with herbs that specifically target headaches and migraines. Magnesium and other trace minerals support over 350 metabolic and enzymatic functions in the body. Magnesium relaxes muscles, supports nerve function and reduces acidity.
Studies have found that over 50% of migraine sufferers are deficient in magnesium.
Headaches can be triggered by a variety of factors, such as muscle tension, fatigue and emotional upsets. Some common causes of headaches & migraines are stress, alcohol, menstruation and ingestion.
Symptoms of a Headache / Migraine can include:
Some people may experience other symptoms a day or two before a migraine occurs – such as feeling depressed or cranky; being very happy, awake or full of energy; Restlessness or Nervousness; Drowsiness; being extremely thirsty or hungry – craving certain foods OR not having an appetite at all. An aura may be experienced by 1 out of 5 people usually about 30 minutes before a headache starts - you may see spots, wavy lines or flashing lights; have numbness or “pins-and-needles” in your hands, arm or face. When you experience any of the prelim symptoms associated with migraines or headaches take THAT Magnesium™ Headaches | Migraines immediately in a dosage higher than normal and continue to take your regular dosage.
Wood betony also works well for stress and anxiety, helping you to relax. Wood betony also works wonders for sinus headaches, menstrual headaches and an alcohol induced headache due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
Feverfew is used as a preventative treatment for migraine. Feverfew gradually decreases the frequent of migraine attacks. It works to inhibit the release of two inflammatory substances, serotonin and prostaglandins, both believed to contribute to the onset of migraines. By inhibiting these amines as well as the production of the chemical histamine, the herb controls inflammation that constricts the blood vessels in the head and prevents blood vessel spasms which may contribute to headaches. Studies also found Gingko Biloba reduces the number of migraine attacks
Skullcap is a sedative nervine (medicine to calm the nerves). Its tranquilizing effect is what links it to headache relief. Moreover, it can be used to treat conditions like anxiety, insomnia, and nervous tension all of which can lead to a serious headache attack if neglected. Rosemary can help encourage a healthy flow of blood to the brain, which can work effectively to treat migraines at the heart of the problem. The soothing nature of Rosemary can also help by reducing feelings of tension and stress in the body which can sometimes have the effect of triggering migraines.
Lavender induces relaxation and relieves tension and stress — working as a sedative, antidepressant, anti-anxiety, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant and calming agent. There is also growing evidence that lavender serves as an effective treatment of neurological conditions and disorders. Nausea is present in the majority of people who complain of migraine headaches due to inflammation of the Vegas nerve. Lavender can also be used for restlessness, insomnia and nervous stomach irritations accompanying migraine headaches.
Cayenne works to desensitize nerve endings by releasing the pain-inducing chemical called substance P, a neurotransmitter that sends pain messages to your brain. Cayenne overwhelms your nerves and depletes them of substance P, so that pain transmission stops.
According to Phyllis A. Balch, certified nutritional consultant and author of the book "Prescription for Herbal Healing," Cayenne also reduces platelet aggregation factor, or PAF, which contributes to the onset of migraine headaches by constricting blood circulation in your head.
Most medications will only work by masking the pain rather than dealing with the cause- THAT Magnesium™ Headaches|Migraines targets the cause of headaches and migraines. Magnesium is an essential mineral to support the entire body and is especially important to aid in proper nerve function and balance the body’s pH-levels.
